What do Santa and Jesus have in common… Continue reading “Santa Christ?”
I love taking taking pictures. I love finding things that make us stop and pause or look at things in a new way. I like taking pictures of my family, my youth group kids playing sports, getting lost in Bermuda because I found a great cove to shoot a sunset…if it jumps out at me I will try and capture it.
I have always thought that this is the most challenging time of year for pictures. Especially when there is no snow on the ground. There are no leaves, colorful things…but sometimes there are things that jump out at you and they are right in your back yard if you are willing to slowdown long enough to find it. This shot was made right where we park our cars…
This past week at our FUEL service I said that one of the things that I found to be the hardest part about my leave is that I need to be more intentional about the time that I set aside for God. I love time being quiet and available to God. I feel God moving through me through the silence of life. In the quiet cracks of life I am the most aware of what God is doing through me.
So after saying that I guess God decided to meet me and make room for me in a very obvious way. After a night of Eden duty I woke up and the first thing I saw was this really awesome sunrise. I saw the sky outside of our window, grabbed my camera, and fired off a couple of shots. It was so great and it started off my day so perfectly.
God shows up in the perfect ways even when we aren’t looking… 🙂
Today was the first snow of Eden’s life. This was such a fun time to bundle her up and go out into the snow. I can’t believe that it took so long to get her dressed. She is so small but layering still takes time. The blessing is that she is in diapers and so that means that when we finally got all of her clothes on we didn’t have to worry about her haveing to go to the bathroom after we got her all suited up.
This was a really fun time and the snow is still falling. I am sure that we are going to have like 100 more photos on the way. 🙂
One of the things that being at home with my baby Eden has given me an appreciation for is the time and care it takes to be a parent. I know that any of you may already know what i am talking about. But for those who don’t know, having a child seems to be a very big act of love manifest through humility. Changing diapers, getting barfed on, changing clothes, accessorizing when we go out in public, the 1 million things that you need just to take her on a trip with you to Borders, waking up to feed and burp your little one…and the list goes on. Throughout all of these things you really get to know and understand your priorities, and all of these things that my youth kids wrinkle their noses at are only details. The bright and shining points are when you are blessed with the opportunity to see this little person discover the word and do new tings for the first time. To smile, and coo, to recognize who you are and begin to try and craw. All of these things melt the heart and seem as if they are gone in the blink of an eye. What a blessing it is to be home with my EDEN. 🙂
A couple of days ago I notices that our washing machine had leaked a little bit. No big deal I thought because I was the one that was doing the laundry and i most likely filled the machine too full with clothes and detergent. I didn’t think much of it at the time….but I couldn’t have been more wrong (dramatic music da da dummmmmmmb) Continue reading “dancing in the rain…well more like gross pipe water but who’s counting?”
I am so excited that I have begun my time at home with my beautiful daughter Eden. I have about 7 weeks of paternity leave to be with her and take care of her. The time has started off with a bang because we went to the doctor for her 2 month check-up and she had to get four (count ’em F-O-U-R) shots. It was crazy, but Eden did a great job and she is sleeping now because of the big day.
She is such a wonderful gift to Katie and me. We have learned so much about the wonder of god through this little bundle of wonder.
I am excited to have this time and I hope to be able to blog a little bit more as well when she is napping and when the dog is taking care of her (j/k).
