Never lose sight of the reason for the season
December 13th, 2008
I saw this story and thought that there has to be a sermon in here…but I am not preaching for a little while so I will just post it. I think that this would be a little extreme to do in reality. I think you would have to weigh the cost of a plastic baby Jesus from walmart vs. a trip to Best Buy for some motion activated cameras and a gps unit.
To each their own I guess…and God bless them for doing so because it made me smile today.
When Baby Jesus disappeared last year from a Nativity scene on the lawn of the Wellington, Fla., community center, village officials didn’t follow a star to locate him.
A GPS device mounted inside the life-size ceramic figurine led sheriff’s deputies to a nearby apartment, where it was found face down on the carpet. An 18-year-old woman was arrested in the theft.
I would love to be the one to knock on the door and say, “Could you please give me back my Jesus…I promise you can come and visit him on Sunday.”
Pass it on
October 29th, 2008
On Sunday I met Katie and Eden for lunch at McDonald’s for a very fancy meal (oh yeah big spenders). We sat down, ate and watched people play with the giant slide puzzle (you can see a guy with camo on playing with it in the pic).
We had a delightful meal and then Katie went to a meeting and Eden and I finished our food, but not before something struck me. Eden was eating only her bun with Ketchup on it. This is
not something that is very strange I guess but it got me thinking. Katie loves Ketchup sandwiches. I was mesmerized but the fact that Eden was chomping down on a Ketchup soaked piece of bread.
I had just read a passage from Deutoeronmy 6 the day before where the people of Israel are being told how to pass on their faith to the next generation. Here is what it says:
The Smell of Fall
October 8th, 2008
Today as i went out to the car and began getting things ready for the day I caught wind of a fire heating a near by home. Fireplaces are one of the tell tail signs for me that winter is on the way and fall is here. I can’t wait for the leaves to change and the valley to be filled with wonderful color.
I hope to get out and take some pictures of the sun set one evening soon.
Tomorrow I am going to be Scrubbing Up with Katie and other pastors to visit the OR at the Hagerstown Hospital. Woot should have a pic or two from that

The trapper’s log
August 24th, 2008
So we have yet to be sucessful at capturing the thing that is living under our shed. When I say we I am referring to me and my dog, Kronk. But tonight we are taking a step up. We almost go something last night, and now I have gotten tips on my technique. Also, I have procured an even larger trap (which I know works because I managed to get my arm stuck arming the trap).
So now we have two traps. A smaller one that has last night’s Chicken Kiev in it with a side of ants. and the mondo trap baited with a cupcake. take a look at these pictures and tell me you wouldn’t wonder in for a snack Read the rest of this entry »
A couple of days after…
July 16th, 2008

After a crazy couple of days of retreating it seems like some of the wildness has calmed down. Now we have Vacation bible school going on and that is a ton of fun too. There was all kinds of wild stuff that went on and a great deal of messiness as well.
Go to lifeforceyouth.com to check out the rest of the pics from the retreat.
I was really impressed to see that some of the students even made it to church on Sunday after the sleepless night…. Read the rest of this entry »
I have awesome kids
June 30th, 2008
So a couple of our students went with a couple of youth workers to creation this past week. And even more people at home were praying that Cathy and Bernie made it through.
Anyway, one day last week a couple of the girls swiped a book out of my office and took it to Creation with them. They then sought out Duffy Robbins, one of the coauthors who was speaking at Creation, and asked him to sign the book for me.
The girls “presented” me with the book on Sunday and i discovered the blessing that he had signed it and I was thought about during Creation.

Ice Cream Rollin’
June 24th, 2008
The other night Eden and I thought that it woudl be a great idea to make some ice cream with part of my father’s day present.
Before she was born I got this ice cream ball that you fill with ice and salt in one end and then the ice cram stuff in the other and shake rattle and roll it around to make your treat.
So, after about 30 minutes of playing on the floor right before bed we had a little treat that we were able to share, and we had a great time doing it.
What a great way to spend the evening while mom finished her sermon ![]()
New Gallery Page
June 23rd, 2008
I have a new look to the blog because the old theme didn’t let me code it the way that I wanted it to. So any who, I added a gallery today to show off pics of my fam and some some of my nature photos.
I think that the new look is kind of neat, but I think the added functionality is a great plus. check it out.
