Pass it on

October 29th, 2008

lunchOn Sunday I met Katie and Eden for lunch at McDonald’s for a very fancy meal (oh yeah big spenders). We sat down, ate and watched people play with the giant slide puzzle (you can see a guy with camo on playing with it in the pic).

We had a delightful meal and then Katie went to a meeting and Eden and I finished our food, but not before something struck me.  Eden was eating only her bun with Ketchup on it. This is
not something that is very strange I guess but it got me thinking. Katie loves Ketchup sandwiches. I was mesmerized but the fact that Eden was chomping down on a Ketchup soaked piece of bread.

I had just read a passage from Deutoeronmy 6 the day before where the people of Israel are being told how to pass on their faith to the next generation. Here is what it says:

Ice Cream Rollin’

June 24th, 2008

Eden Ice Cream The other night Eden and I thought that it woudl be a great idea to make some ice cream with part of my father’s day present.

Before she was born I got this ice cream ball that you fill with ice and salt in one end and then the ice cram stuff in the other and shake rattle and roll it around to make your treat.

So, after about 30 minutes of playing on the floor right before bed we had a little treat that we were able to share, and we had a great time doing it.

What a great way to spend the evening while mom finished her sermon :-)

Finally after much desire (on my part) we have a crew of students, and a group of parents who are going to be taking the next couple of weeks to drop in and do a book study on Messy Spirituality. I am really excited.

We are going to be meeting for the first time tomorrow night, and i am going to try and continue the conversation about the book on the blog. Maybe one or two things that spark my interest throughout the evening so that if someone misses it we can keep y’all up to speed. We will see.

I was turned on to the Curious George “Soundtrack” by a woman from church because she said that “It is music that you and your daughter can listen to while still keeping your sanity.” Being as here favorite CD makes me want to fling it off of a bridge I thought I would give it a shot.

Jack Johnson’s great flow and style soothes even the most savage of teething babies, and the dads. I think that this is a blessing to all who have little ones.

Delinquent Daydreaming

April 28th, 2008

hammockSo I have not been posting at all in the pas couple of days weeks, and there is a clear culprit at work.  Katie gave me my b-day present early because of the beautiful weather and…well I have been soaking it up.

My wonderful wife purchased for me a Brazilian hammock that I have set up in out backyard with some climbing webbing, and now I hide in there whenever I can.  The first evening I set it up I fell asleep in under 3 minutes.  I have since done sermon prep, youth ministry reading in it as well as spent time with Eden in my new hideout and bonded with the dog.

Simply put…the world would be a better place if everyone had one of these.

My Newest Hiking Buddy

April 18th, 2008

hike

Eden and I took our first real hike today.  We went up in the Watershed and hiked around for about 30 minutes.  We have a way cool backpack that we were given from a family that knew it would be perfect for us.   Needless to say i have been counting the days that she was big enough and praying for the weather to break.  And today was that day.

She loved the hike but fell asleep about 5 minutes from the car on the way back.  Oh well.  Guest some stamina conditioning is in our future.

Riding the wave

March 24th, 2008

waveAs some post resurrection sabbath Katie, her bro and sis and I went to the Great Wolf lodge where we partook in some serious fun at their indoor water park.  there was also something to do with a wand, but we were too cool for that…well until we saw other people doing it all over.  I think that it is meant for kids, but we saw our fair share of 30 somethings waving wands fully decked out with wand holster and cape.  On the list for next time I guess.

I think the best part was that we were away from the chores of being at home.  good times.

Easter egg hunt.

March 15th, 2008

We had a great time and MUMC’s Easter egg hunt and brunch.  The Young’s, Twigg’s and all of the others did a great job and Eden had a great time seeking out her egg.  It was really a wonderful time.  I’ll see if i can get a pic. in a little while

We have created a monster

March 13th, 2008

Taking a stand against reality television Eden stole the remote and throughly doused it with slobber in an attempt to render it useless to mom. Really she just wanted her bottle back and was willing to do anything she could to get something to munch on.
